In 1966 Liven & Co. was founded by K.W. Chu in Taiwan. The Company started out as a small firm representing local coral businesses in the Kaoshiung area in Taiwan. The small company slowly expanded under the diligence and expertise of K.W. Chu until it became one of the top Jewelry businesses in Taipei. Over the years the company established international connections including resources in the U.S. as well as Europe.

In 1987 Liven & Co. expanded to Hawaii and established Liven of Hawaii.

In 1991 K.W. Chu Passed away leaving the business to his children. Not long after his passing the company disbanded. Taking everything he learned from his father and years of experience in the industry, David Hung Chung Chu established a small wholesale business in Hawaii, Pearl & Coral Ltd.

In 1992 Pearl & Coral Ltd. started carrying pearls in their inventory.

David and his wife, Jean, have since turned this small business into an organization dedicated to provide retailers with top quality jewelry. Pearl & Coral Ltd. also has opened retail locations that carry its own custom designs.
